At PARAN Women Group Initiative, we work alongside indigenous women and youth groups to promote smart agriculture practices that improve food security, restore degraded ecosystems, and create sustainable livelihoods for communities living around the Mau Forest landscape. By combining indigenous knowledge with climate-smart farming solutions, communities can protect natural resources while building resilient and self-sustaining livelihoods.
Climate-Smart Agriculture
We train women and youth groups on sustainable farming practices that increase food production while protecting the environment. These include:
- Agroforestry and indigenous tree planting
- Kitchen gardening and organic farming
- Soil and water conservation practices
- Indigenous seed preservation
- Climate-resilient farming methods
- Sustainable land management
These practices help families adapt to climate change, improve soil fertility, and increase agricultural productivity in a sustainable way.
Conservation & Ecosystem Restoration
Our smart agriculture activities contribute directly to the restoration and protection of the Mau Forest ecosystem and surrounding landscapes.Through community-led restoration efforts, women and youth groups participate in:
- Indigenous tree nursery establishment
- Reforestation and tree planting activities
- Restoration of degraded land
- Biodiversity conservation awareness
- Protection of water catchment areas
By integrating trees and sustainable farming systems into community land, we support biodiversity conservation while improving long-term environmental resilience.
Food Security & Nutrition
Climate change and environmental degradation continue to threaten food production for many indigenous communities. Through training, demonstration farms, and community support programs, we help households grow nutritious and sustainable food throughout the year. The initiative promotes:
- Household food production
- Diversified farming systems
- Indigenous and drought-resistant crops
- Improved nutrition for families
- Community resilience during drought and food shortages
Our goal is to ensure that families have reliable access to healthy food while reducing dependence on unsustainable practices that harm the environment.
Join Us in Building a Sustainable Future
By investing in indigenous women and youth, we are creating a future where communities thrive in harmony with nature.Together, we can restore ecosystems, strengthen livelihoods, and build resilient communities for generations to come.
