ENERGY SAVING COOK STOVES

For many Indigenous and rural households, cooking with traditional three-stone fires requires large amounts of firewood and exposes women and children to smoke. It also contributes to pressure on forests and natural ecosystems. Paran Women Group promotes energy-saving and clean cooking solutions that help Indigenous women and households reduce their dependence on firewood while improving household health, saving time, and reducing environmental pressure. Through community awareness, demonstrations, and practical training, we support women in adopting improved cooking stoves that use less fuel and produce less smoke than traditional cooking methods.

Why Clean Cooking Matters

Women are often responsible for collecting firewood and preparing meals. In communities that depend heavily on natural resources, this can take significant time and contribute to pressure on forests. Traditional cooking methods can also expose households to indoor air pollution, particularly women and children who spend more time around cooking areas.

Empowering Indigenous Women Through Clean Energy

At Paran Women Group, clean cooking is also an initiative for women’s empowerment and livelihoods.

We work with Indigenous women and local communities to increase awareness and practical knowledge about energy-efficient cooking technologies. Women are encouraged to become champions of clean cooking within their households and communities. Where appropriate, the production, promotion, and distribution of energy-saving cooking solutions can also create opportunities for women to develop practical skills and generate income. By placing women at the centre of clean energy solutions, we connect environmental conservation with improved livelihoods and household wellbeing.

Our Vision for Clean Cooking

We envision communities where women and families can prepare nutritious meals using safer, cleaner and more energy-efficient cooking technologies, while reducing pressure on forests and strengthening household resilience. We believe that when women have access to practical clean-energy solutions, they can contribute to healthier families, stronger livelihoods and healthier ecosystems.
